Interested in Volunteering

Volunteers are KEY to the hospitality that Pay-It-Forward House extends to patients' family members and friends. The House is an AAVO, an Almost-All-Volunteer Organization. We have less than one full-time employee. Everything else around the House gets done through the generosity of volunteers who share of their time and talents so that visitors to Sycamore have a place to call their home-away-from-home while near their hospitalized loved one.

All volunteers, regardless of their area of interest or expertise, must attend a one-hour orientation session. Orientations are scheduled approximately once a month. Check our facebook page for upcoming dates. If none of the upcoming dates work with your schedule, don’t be discourage. Just contact us and we will set up a time to work with you one-on-one!

Can't make your scheduled shift?

If you are scheduled for a shift and you cannot make it, please proceed as follows:

Always start by trying to find your own replacement from people you know are trained.

If you cannot find someone and it's before the day of your shift:

• Call the House during volunteer hours and ask the Friendly Face to take your name off the board and put a note on the administrative assistant's desk that the shift is now open.
• Email us about your upcoming absence.

If it’s the day of your shift, call 815-762-4882 and leave a message if no one answers.
