NIU Nursing Students Tour Pay-It-Forward HouseSycamore –October 22, 2005 – Recently, the Pay-It-Forward House hosted a tour of their facility for Northern Illinois University’s (NIU) Learning Laboratory Coordinator Judith Kuczek and two groups of NIU nursing students. It was an opportunity for them to discover how a hospital hospitality house operates, understand the unique relationship between this type of not-for-profit organization and the medical facility it supports, and hear personal accounts of the people being served. “The nursing staff at Kindred Hospital has always been important to the success of our organization,” said Joyce Mathey, President of the Board of Directors, the Pay-It-Forward House. “From personal donations, to suggesting families in-need of assistance, their on-going support is immeasurable. We are confident the next generation of nurses will also be excited about our mission and are pleased to help expand their knowledge in this area. Some of these students may be future volunteers at the Pay-It -Forward House or staff members at Kindred!” Individuals or groups requesting a pre-arranged tour of the House should contact Joyce Mathey at 815-895-3803.
