Pay-It-Forward House Hosts Spring Garage Sale

Proceeds Help Offset Operating Expenses

Sycamore, IL – May 17, 2005 –The Pay-It-Forward House, a charitable not-for-profit corporation organized to provide temporary respite on a drop-in and overnight basis for family and friends of patients at Kindred Hospital, is hosting a garage on Saturday, June 11 from 8am-3pm at 719 Somonauk Street. Area residents generously donated all of the items being sold earlier this year, in response to a request for help furnishing the hospitality house in time for its March 2005 grand opening.

“A very dedicated group of volunteers organized this event and is taking care of all the details, and for that we are very grateful,” said Mary Lou Eubanks, Executive Director, Pay-It-Forward House. “Yet we also have to recognize the countless donors who gave us the furniture, antiques, collectibles, books, household items, lamps and tools that will be available for sale. We were shocked to receive duplicates and even triplicates of certain items and thought a garage sale would be a great way to maximize the gifts we couldn’t use.”

The garage sale is schedule to take place—rain or shine—and there will be popcorn and homemade cookies available for purchase. Representatives from the House will be on-hand to answer questions and explain volunteer opportunities.

Admission to the house requires a referral from a Kindred Hospital social worker or case manager, and operating costs are offset by free will donations.
